Foreign Language

It is undeniable that, like several experts said, it is far better to start teaching foreign language since primary school than since secondary school so that young pupils could build their language capability as soon as possible. In my opinion, the advantages of this are higher than the opposites.

Learning foreign language since primary school, for children, means additional subject that they should to learn. As a result, the amount of a-must-learned subject become too much. Pupils cannot handle it well so that it will be difficult for them to become an expert in one or a few subjects. In the other hand, it is useless to teach children how to master foreign language if the teacher is not (1) master that subject and (2) know how to teach it effectively. These cases are often happen especially in school located in town and villages. After that, it could also reduce the interesting and understanding of mother and domestic language. As the reducing number of world languages happened every 14 days, this is a bad news.

In contrast, several possitive values are available if foreign language is strart to be taught in primary school. Firstly, children have more time to master this subject. As a consequences, they will have more chances to learn and improve their skills. Secondly, it is good to prepare our next generations in order to face globaziation and world’s free-trading era. It is simply because by mastering foreign language, we can rise our bargaining position.

In conclusion, besides this basic advantages which overweigh the disadvantages, by solving the disadvantages through some solutions—balancing the proportion of young pupils school’s schedule, rise the quality of teachers, and take care of domestic language—we can get more advantages from it.

Creative Artist, Freedom, and Government Restriction

It is true that creative artists need a freedom in order to present their creative ‘product’ such as books, pictures, music, and movies without any restrictions from the government. In my opinion, while freedom is given, rules—especially moral restriction—are still needed so that creative artists could use this freedom responsibly.

Creative artists, as we know, need freedom in order to express their ideas honestly. Without any freedom, the ideas wouldnot be expressed clearly. It is simply because governmental restriction—which produce political and social fear—always become their obstacles. Once it become huge obstacle, good books, pictures, music, and movies will no longer be produced. As its decreasing number of art product of performances, our quality of life will also downwards, and it slow-but-sure cut down our culture. In the other hand, total freedom cause chaos. For example, without any rules, film producer can produce worse movies—which can give bad impact to our human race and culture such as “blue film”—and children can wacth it freely.

In contrast, governmental restriction is related and often becoming the total control of the government. As we had faced years ago during New Regime authority, this restriction was killing the art-world softly. Creative artists started to fear worry and afraid to produce honest books or pictures or music or movies because they could be killed. As a consequence, our life was full of fear and less art-productions was produced.

In conclusion, while freedom is being given to those creative artists, moral restrictions are also needed to keep them responsible in using this freedom so that wa can save not only their creativity but also our culture and humanity.

Modes of Transportation in UK

The chart above describe four kinds of transportation’s modes used to deliver goods in UK during 1974 until 2002. Except the different numbers of each modes, the graph of all modes is fluctuating and ended in a higher level than it began.

During 1974 until 2000, every modes shown less growth, except train which was stagnant. Then during 4 years later, while modes of pipeline and water were incline, the other two are obviously decline. Modes of road had a steady rise during 1982 until 1990 from about 70 million tonnes to more than 80 million tonnes. In the same time, modes of pipeline and water showed no change: almost 20 million tonnes for pipeline and about 60 million tonnes for water. Modes of rail, in contrast, fluctuate around 40 million tonnes. In the last 12 years (1990-2002), there was only modes of pipeline showed the increasing number of million tonnes goods transported. Started at 20 million tonnes in 1990, it reached below 30 million tonnes in the end of the period. Unfortunatelly, it was still the lowest.

The highest top was modes of road. Fluctuated during 1990 until around 1995, it sharply increased for about 4 years before became virtually stragnant after 1998. It reached 100 million tonnes at the end of the period while modes of water only got 20 million tonnes and mode of rail reached below 40 million tonnes.

As a result, this trend explained that modes of road were the most-used mode to transport quantities of goods.

Why did Quraisy Took Care of Kaaba During Stupidness Era?

After my friend who had read my seventh book had asked about “how can Quraisy—which most of them was not moslem—took care of Kaaba and Mecca—which was the main holy mosque and place for moslem?”, I started to put points to answer.

As we know, there were, at least, four religions belong to Mecca’s society during that time: Hanifiyah—whose Ibrahim as their Rasul—pagan, which Hubal was their main god, yahudi, the believers of Musa’s religion, and nasrani—the Jesus Christ followers.

Generally, Quraisy Clan were pagans. They believe that Allah, whose “house” is located there, had several daughters—hubal, latta, uzza, and so on. But eventhough the majority of Mecca’s people believe in many gods, a few of them still remain for Ibrahim religion. They known as “Hanif”—those who practice Hanifiyah religion. At that time, because of years-without-massangers, the ritual of this religion was only “i’tikaf”—stay for at least a while in a mosque—“uzlah”—being alone in a place far from society for several nights—and pilgrim—as we can see today.

So that, eventhough pilgrim was Ibrahim’s tought, the pagans had also pilgrim ritual, with, of course, distances of term and time and god(s).

It leads us to the question: why did these pagans took-care of Kaaba and kept Mecca eventhough by war?

  1. Kaaba was an unchangeable historical building. Was built by Ibrahim and Ismail hundread years before the stupidness era, Kaaba began to become an important heritage monument. People all over the world loved to visit this site and as a consequence, Mecca’s society need to took-care of both Kaaba and Mecca or they will be forced by pilgrimmers around the world and lossing tourism market and trading bussiness.
  2. They setted Kaaba as the centre of their god. Hubal was located, exactly in the heart of Kaaba. The 359-other-gods was surrounding this holy mosque.
  3. The more successful they were in caring of Mecca, the more respect that they will get from people. As the society who payed attention more in respectness, Quraisy was willing to do everything to keep their existance in Mecca. They learnt from the failure of Khuza’ah who had been kicked out because of their disintegrity on caring Mecca.
  4. Mecca was located in important trading way, so that, by leading Mecca, they could also lead the international market.

That’s all that I can share. Thank you.
